Ordinary Canadian
In September of 2008 Prime Minister Stephen Harper's government chose to cut $45 million from arts and culture funding. He justified his government's choice with a hasty generalization: "Ordinary Canadians have no sympathy for 'rich' artists who gather at galas to whine about their grants."
The image he paints is typical of many polititians. They broad-brush issues and claim to possess the opinion of masses but the opinions they often exhibit are merely symbolic representations of detailed truths executed with little craft.
"Ordinary Canadian" was completed a few months later.
